Pictet Alternative Advisors (PAA), alternative investment specialist of the Swiss Pictet Group, has announced the closure of its first thematic private equity fund, Pictet Thematic Private Equity – Technology, dedicated exclusively to technological investments and innovation, having reached its maximum limit, set at USD 350 million.

It is a fund of funds that includes investments in technology companies in different states of maturity (venture capital, growth, leveraged buyouts), which facilitates investors a diversified exposure with mitigated risk. It was launched by October 2020, with a fundraising target of USD 300 million.

The fund is managed by a thematic investment team, led by Pierre Stadler, head of thematic private equity at Pictet AA, who brings 15 years of experience.

“Having reached the maximum limit with this initiative represents a great achievement.  It is a testimony to the confidence of our investors, eager to participate in specialized niche products.  We are proud to have a very diversified investor base, including pension funds, financial institutions, foundations, family offices and high net worth individuals”.

“Pictet has promoted close and lasting relationships with a limited number of hard-to-reach private equity firms.  We are very selective in forging these relationships and strive to identify management teams that stand out for their track record, network, niche strategy, ability to generate operations and investment discipline”.

Pierre Stadler, head of thematic private equity at Pictet AA

Pictet AA, given the success of its thematic private equity investment model, will soon expand its offering and in early 2022 will launch a new thematic private equity investment fund focused on healthcare and biotechnology.

Pictet AA has been managing diversified private equity assets portfolios for more than 30 years, both through custom mandates and investment vehicles.  The institution is recognized for its diversified multi-manager private equity fund, Monte Rosa, the first of which was created in 2008, aimed at providing a wide range of clients with access to private equity investments.  The latest generation, Monte Rosa VI, continues to grow in acquisitions, with a target of more than 1,000 million dollars.

The Pictet Group is a partnership of owner-managers, with principles of succession and transmission of ownership that have remained unchanged since foundation in 1805. It offers only wealth management, asset management, alternative investment solutions and related asset services. The Group does not engage in investment banking, nor does it extend commercial loans.  With €629 billion under management or custody as of 30 June 2021, it is one of the leading independent wealth and asset managers in Europe.  Headquartered in Geneva (Switzerland) and founded in that city, employs more than 5,000 people. It has 30 offices worldwide, in Amsterdam, Barcelona, Basel, Brussels, Dubai, Frankfurt, Geneva, Hong Kong, Lausanne, London, Luxembourg, Madrid, Milan, Monaco, Montreal, Munich, Nassau, New York, Osaka, Paris, Rome, Shanghai, Singapore, Stuttgart, Taipei, Tel Aviv, Tokyo, Turin, Verona and Zurich.
