Seasoned campaigner joins Edinburgh-based boutique to support continuing growth

Specialist asset management boutique, Amati Global Investors (‘Amati’), this week welcomes Colin Thomson as Sales Director. Thomson, who was with SVM Asset Management for more than 16 years – latterly as Head of Wholesale Distribution, with overall responsibility for business development – will be based at Amati’s Edinburgh head office, with responsibility primarily for the Midlands and North of England regions.

Thomson will work closely with Head of Sales, Rachel Le Derf and Jonathan Woolley, Sales Director for the London and the South of England regions as the UK small and mid-cap focused firm looks to grow. Having held intermediary sales positions with leading life assurance groups Prudential and Zurich prior to his 16-year stint with SVM, he will bring a wealth of experience and connections and further enhance Amati’s client relationship capabilities.

“I started working alongside Paul Jourdan in 2005, and became one of the Founding Partners of Amati in 2010. We’ve had a lot of fun in building the firm over the last 10 years, but the last 12 months have been perhaps the most exciting so far. We have seen our total AUM rise from £350m to £540m (in the last 12 months), with our flagship UK Smaller Companies Fund at £300m last September and almost £400m today, with steady net flows. This reflects the strong and consistent investment performance we continue to deliver, and the investment we have made in building our profile and our investor communications.

Rachel Le Derf – Head of Sales

“The strong asset growth we are experiencing reflects the growing support we are receiving, right across the intermediary market – from investment advisers, wealth managers and private banks alike, with a growing band of retail investors accessing the Smaller Companies Fund via direct-to-consumer platforms. We are nicely poised, and it is this growth that is leading us to bolster the Sales team. We are interviewing at this time for Sales Support roles and are actively looking to build the team to maintain the high level of client service for which we have become known.”
